A day of celebrations for the devotees of the eternal divine Lord Shiva. The birthday of the divine power Lord Shiva conventionally known as Shivaratri all over the world, is celebrated in Abhyasa too. Its been a tradition in Abhyasa to celebrate Maha Shivratri every year. Following the tradition Abhyasa along with all the abhyasits celebrated the divine birthday in a devotional manner.
On this day, all the students got traditionally dressed earlier by 6 am in the morning and were taken to Shiva Aalayanu across the main road in Toopran. The students walked all the way from Abhyasa till the temple by singing bhajans of Lord Shiva.
The students after entering into the temple took holy rounds around the main temple while some of theothers offered personal offerings and prayed to the Lord. There was a complete devotional aroma in the atmosphere with addition of all the devotional spirits of the students. After spending time in the temple, all the students made there way back to Abhyasa by joining their voices together singing bhajans.
As per the religious belief some of the abhyasits had also made their mind to fast without. eating anything. The whole day in the Katya-Korner has also turned devotional on this day.
Later in the evening, a pooja along with bhajans have been organized by the spirituality management in the school's temple. Students of all the classes were made to sit in the temple's arena and sing devotional songs of Lord Shiva while there was a holy abhishekam procession offered to Shiva Lingam.
The students were made to offer milk to the Shiva lingam as the part of the holy abhishekam. Some of the teachers and staff also took part and had sing bhajans in the pooja.
The devotional LingaAashtakamStotram which consists of 108 chant spells of Lord Shiva have been chanted 108 times till 1 am in the mid-night. The students and staff took part in the holy jaagran i.e. staying awake in the night by singing bhajans and offering prayer to Lord Shiva.
