Ice Breaking Ceremony - 2012

Twinkle Twinkle little STAR, How I wonder what you are?
And where are you from?.. Serenity Smile on students Eyes..

Welcome back. New students and old students came back to Abhyasa Campus in Toopran.

Though it’s painful for parents to send their kids back to join another batch of ICSE and ISC after the March exams, the campus is alive with the chirping of children and the clamor of their footsteps. With some of the ICSE students already reporting back to campus and new students joining across various classes, there is excitement and anticipation in the air. Mother Abhyasa has waited patiently for her students throughout the month May and is now elated to have them back in her bosom. The senior students are back from their vacation on June 8th and 9th while the juniors along with the new ones alighted on the campus on June 10th.

After all the parents bid painful adieus to their children, the students were directed to the Priyanka’s Play Pen – where a show was organized for the customary but informal “breaking-the-ice” between the new comers and the current crop of students. It was a warm welcome speech from the Director & Founder Principal Mr. Vinaayaka Kalleetla, who introduced all the staff members to students and initiated the session between the Junior and Senior students. It was games time soon afterwards and all the students had a blast.

It was so gratifying to see the teachers and senior student communities acquainting themselves and warming up to the new comers. Tongue Twisters, Ball Games, songs and dances were performed by the students. Everyone exchanged pleasantries and jokes and the air is vibrant with youthful exuberance and merriment. It was an extremely joyful atmosphere at Abhyasa on this auspicious day. All the credit to Student Activity Management Group which made this event a memorable one!!

All the staff members, from both the academic and administrative wings were introduced on the following day. Mrs.Murthy, Principal-in-Charge addressed the students and urged everyone to be active and engaging in their pursuit of studies and excellence. She also emphasized the importance of self-discipline for all students in order to derive maximum benefits from Abhyasa staff members and curriculum. Mr.C.V.K.Sastry, Vice Principal -Academics addressed the students and released the academic classes schedule.

After the meeting, the academic sessions have begun at Abhyasa for the calendar year 2012– 2013.

THE INVESTITURE CEREMONY 2012-13
“LEADERSHIP IS ACTION, NOT POSITION” – Mr. Donal H.McGann

It is a quite a unique process at Abhyasa to elect the student leaders for different process to achieve the goal of “Overall Personality Development” of a student. Students are given a fair and democratic chance to nominate themselves to handle various departments which are mentioned as follows:

1. Academic Management
2. Discipline Management
3. Campus Management
4. Mess Management
5. Gram Seva Management
6. Spirituality Management
7. Activity Management
8. Sports Management

Once all the nominations are received, the student leaders would be elected in the Open Assembly where the students are asked to vote for the candidate. The School Administration Team also brainstorms the candidate’s ability of leading the given process.

Even this year, voting for the Students Managers, Class Leaders, Class Academic Coordinators, Dorm Leaders and deputy leaders for the different process was done. The process was done on a very transparent manner and basis. At Abhyasa, we mean what we say. To inculcate the same quality in our students, the student managers who manage the different processes would be asked to present their goals to be achieved for the year. They will be motivated to come up with new ideas to enhance the quality of process managed by them. They will come up with their own ideas with collective brain storming.

The training of the future leaders starts with the process of making them acclimatized with the system. All the elected student managers for different committees were asked to present their goals to the school.

On 21st June, the programme started by offering prayers to Lord Ganapathi (“Vakratundaya…. Sri Ganeshaya..dance item).which students have shown their skills of dance.. Later all the student managers were invested by the Chief Guest. Nalgonda Collector Sri N. Muktheswara Rao Garu, administered the oath to the student managers who promised to perform their duties with diligence. All the students were also took an oath that they would offer their best support to the student leaders to run the system very smoothly at Abhyasa. This year students were privileged to have Nalgonda District Collector Sri N. Muktheswara Rao  as Chief Guest for the function.

Nalgonda District Collector Sri N.Muktheswara Rao was patient enough to answer all the questions of the students and appreciated the spirit of the students for the quality of questions raised.Adding colours to the event, Abhyasa has celebrated her 17th Birthday (June 21st) along with the event. Cheif Guest was requested to cut the cake and all the students were distributed the cake in Blue Shed.He also gave a message by telling so many inspiring real stories, about Mokshagundam Vishweshvarayya, and Swami Vivekananda.

The full moon day in the month of Ashadh (July) of the Hindu calendar is celebrated as Guru Purnima by all the Hindus. This day is celebrated as a mark of respect to the “Guru” i.e. a teacher or a Preacher. This day is celebrated in the sacred memory of the great sage Vyasa, the ancient saint who compiled the four Vedas, wrote 18 Puranas, the Mahabharata and the Shrimad Bhagavata. The day, also known as “Vyaasa Purnima” is observed by devotees who offer puja (worship) to their beloved Gurus. Sage Vyasa is known to be the Adi (original) Guru of the Hindu religion. The auspicious day of Vyaasa Poornima has a great significance as everybody knows that the role of a Guru in real life is very much important.

On July 3rd on the occasion of “Gurupoornima”, Abhyasites started the day with “Nagar Sankeerthana”. All the students enjoyed the event singing Bhajans on the streets of Harijanawada. It was indeed a very successful program.

In the Evening, all the students assembled in the Prayer Hall. And there was “Padabhishekham” to our Guru Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. A speech about Gurupoornima was given and Bhajans were sung by the students. Finally, the program was ended with Aarti.

Ganesh Chaturthi

The students of Abhyasa Residential School have a unique way to celebrate the universally popular festival ‘Ganesh Chaturthi’.Abhyasa has always had a sincere concern for fast degrading environment caused by air and water pollution.Abhyasites therefore make the idols of their favorite God Ganesh with plain clay without any chemical colours . The process of idol- making was started at around 10.00 A.M. on the day of Ganesh Chaturthi itself and came to an end on the same day. The natural idols of Lord Ganesh were then, brought to the ‘Prayer Hall’ at Abhyasa by 06.00 P.M. A puja of Lord Shri Ganesh was performed . The village priest of the Toopran was present on the occasion and performed the required rituals of the puja. He explained to the students the significance of this festival. Narrating the origins of ‘Lord Shri Ganesh’, the village priest asked the students to be obedient to their parents and care –takers and ‘committed’ to their duties and responsibilities as students. “Success”, in the words of the village priest, is nothing but a good combination of obedience and duty. A “Bhajan Sandhya” consisting of shlokas and devotional songs about Lord Shri Ganesh followed this discourse. The three day long festivity of the Ganesh Puja came to an end with the Abhyasites submerging the idols of the adorable Lord Shri Ganesh in the village pond with enthusiastic slogans such as “Ek , Do, Teen,Chaar , Ganapathi ki jai jai kaar”, “Ganapathi Bappa Moraya” etc.

Well all good things have to come to an end. But Abhyasa concluded the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations with the knowledge and hope that next years Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations will be back – – – bigger and better ! ! !

An Abhyasite named Kumari Divya (from Class IX ‘A’) secured third place out of thousands of entries from different schools all over India. She was felicitated with a trophy along with a cash prize of Rs.3000/- on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi. Also, Abhyasa International Residential School has been awarded with a special trophy for sending the largest number of students to the Gandhi Open-Book Exam Contest. Kudos to the School Director & Founder Principal, Principal In charge, Vice Principal and co-ordinator of the Gandhi Open-Book Exams, Mr. V P Ravindran, for their persistent motivation and unrelenting support to the student participants. Not only were the Abhyasites all along while going through the master-piece the Autobiography of Mahatma Gandhi – “My Experiments with Truth” but they were enthusiastically responsive in answering a set of thought-provoking questions about Mahatma Gandhi’s life from the test-booklet as well. A set of Gandhian values such as Truth, Non-violence, etc., seemed to have made a deep inroad in to the minds of Abhyasites in the process.

Well, in view of the zealous and meticulous efforts on the part of student participants in answering a plethora of thought-provoking questions based on the content of the given book(on Gandhi’s autobiography), it can be asserted that there should be many more such value based exercises.

The most awaited activity was back with a bang! Children marked in to two groups Fusion and Phoenix. Youthful exuberance of IX graders cached with the seasoned campaigners of the XI graders to make it a successful event. The picnic spot located nearby Nacharam was the centre of the activity with a natural ambience.

The competition among companies commenced with a flurry of commercial ads, which everybody found interesting and left little choice for the customers to choose between companies. So, it all boiled down to the ‘D’ day. The stage was set for the fight to finish with each company trying to outsmart the others.

This battle coincided with the Parent’s Picnic. It provided entertainment and joyful memories which they will cherish. Lemon fun, Anthakshari, Tambola, Communication gap and Treasure hunt were the games which brought out the true sporting abilities of the parents. All this was followed by a sumptuous lunch shared by one and all.

Then, the students released their very own magazine “The Rebel” edited by the Academic Management, true to its name “Rebel” is the voice and the desire of “THE YOUNGISTAN” or the “GEN XT”. The release was greeted with great applause. It sold like hot cakes and praise framed in.

As the desk approached the Curtains came down with a heavy heart but with the anticipation of a better activity for the next year. All in all, the entire event was a grand success. Let’s hope the joy and admiration may last long for all those associated with it.
