Abhyasa Students Visit to Orphanage & Old Age Home 2014

Students of Abhyasa have an opportunity to do things differently. Volunteers (Students) of Rural Service (Gram Seva), Spirituality and Arts & Culture get opportunities to visit Villages & Orphanages and interact with abandoned elderly people in Old age Homes. This year, on 7th June, 2014 few students got the opportunity to visit an Orphanage and Old age home at the same time. It was such a wonderful experience for the children.

In spite of fighting with the odds, their heartwarming welcome made our hearts skip a bit. Their laugh made us cry inside out.The way they greeted us calling ‘Bhaiyya’ and ‘Didi’ really brought tears to many of us. We danced and sang songs with them and spent some quality time with the children and it was the most worthwhile time ever spent. For all of us these memories will be cherished for our lifetimes and surely many of the students decided that they will surely contribute to such worthy causes in their adult life.

We distributed fruits and chocolates to the children. With heavy hearts we had to leave because of time constraints. We proceeded further as we had to visit an Old age Home. On the way we had an opportunity to Visit ST Mary’s Church. In spite of having different faiths the serenity touched our hearts. It made us all peaceful and our wandering minds came to a halt and we could feel the almighty’s presence all around us.

Each of the Skit and Dance performance had a unique way of telling six core values listed above. Each of the Skit and Dance performance had a unique way of telling six core values listed above. For example, the Skit and Dance on Integrity very rightly communicated that “Right is right even if no one is doing it…Wrong is wrong, even if everyone is doing it”. Being on right side….imbues the power to achieve.

About Discipline it is demonstrated through a simple skit and dance that just as a tender sapling needs support for growth, young minds need systematic guidance for stability in life. No strong winds can uproot a deep rooted tree.

Through another skit, Empathy was shown as the most important quality of a successful leader is the ability to feel what others are feeling. A leader’s Empathy touches and transforms the multitudes.

Open Mindedness as a must to have value has been perfectly made to understood by all the audience through yet another dance drama that Plurality and Diversity are the very nature of Existence. Expecting homogeneity in humanity is a narrow view of life. The more open we are in life….more the Opportunities, the skit demonstrated.

The fifth skit and dance on the Effectiveness, conveyed that the intuitive ability to take a right decision at the right time to produce the most acceptable result arises from an Honest-Open minded-Empathetic-Creative individual.

The last of the qualities of the cultural extravaganza was Team Work. A team can achieve much more than what an individuals can. The world is not a peak that accommodates one winner. It is a plateau that can hold all the winners together, the skit said.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by the CEO of the school, Mr. Vinaayaka Kalleetla.

More than 2000 guests and parents witnessed the cultural extravaganza.
