Albert Barrow Memorial All-India Inter-School Creative Writing Competition 2019 - Category II
Creativity is a magic wand that works in two ways. When you set it in action and seek to create something, it does not just bring into existence that object or work, it also raises in your heart a dream, a hope, and a will to achieve that creation. And when all else seems lost and steeped in hopelessness, the magic of creativity can still keep you going and gives you an aim to look forward to. If you just take hold of this urge it will take hold of you and see you through even at the darkest times.

Amma's 75th Birthday Celebrations at Abhyasa
Wow…!!! What an Amazing Day it was at Abhyasa -the. 11th September 2019 – a day full of activity and festive buzz on the Campus. The day was packed with activities and events, of course not at the cost of regular academic schedule. Students were excited about the day right from the start. The POOKALAM COMPETITIONS for celebrating Onam began after lunch. (Pookalam means Artwork with flowers). There was a tough competition among the three houses Shiva, Shakti and Sarvaa houses . There were two other teams competing- Aalingana and Academic Groups, the teachers of academic group.
The members of the Kalleetla family arrived for Amma’s 75th Birthday Celebrations and the Shashtipurti of our beloved Vinaayak Sir’s parents. The guests of honour were received with great love and affection. The program started after a small puja Ceremony with live classical music at the Vishnu Temple inside the Campus. After this the guests were taken in a procession to the venue of the programme- Priyanka’s Play pe n the amphitheatre.
Vinaayak sir of course role model and source of inspiration for every Abhyasasite in every way. But who shaped this great personality? Who else , but his parents (Padmavathi garu & Rangadasu garu ?). The story of the great Kalleetla family was narrated in an audio visual show followed by welcome dances and songs. The story brought alive the journey of life of Amma Padmavathi garu, right from her childhood, her wedding with Sri Rangadasu garu and her role in shaping the lives of her three children, including our beloved Vinaayak sir.
An ancient Indian tradition of “Thulabharam” was conducted, in which provisions- rice, pulses, jaggery, ghee and coins, equal to the weight of Padmavathi Ammagaru were kept on one side of the scale and madam herself on the other. This ritual was an added attraction to the birthday celebration. It is usually performed to ward of ailments of the person and the things used would be used for poor feeding, an act of charity. This was preceded by the colourful and grand Shashti Poorti celebrations (A wedding vow -renewal ceremony is a ceremony in which a married couple renew or reaffirm their marriage vows) an action replay for all us to see and enjoy as we were not present at the time of their wedding ceremony, about sixty years ago.
Amma’s 75th Birthday celebrations were carried on with a festive spirit ever to be remembered by everybody, who made it a point to take the blessings from Padmavathi garu and Rangadasu garu. The the program ended with a Mangala Harathi.
We are all immensely blessed to have been part of this divine and traditional celebration, which of-course had its modern touch of cake cutting and dinner.

Students Perform Pada Pooja to Their Parents | At Abhyasa
March 2020: The students of Abhyasa illustrated their affection and gratitude to their parents by performing Pada Pooja, to receive their blessings.
The origin of Pada Pooja, deeply rooted in the history of Vedic tradition, is imbibed in our children at Abhyasa, as we follow a Gurukul Ethos here.
According to the old saying, ‘Matha, Pitha, Guru, Deivam’ our parents, who brought us into this world, protected us during our infancy and childhood when we were unable to help ourselves, fed us, clothed us, educated us and provided us with everything that we needed and showered unconditional love on us deserve to be respected either equal to or even more than the Almighty. They are the visible Gods for every child.
We are taught right from childhood, ‘Mathru Devo Bhava; Pithru Devo Bhava; Acharya Devo Bhava’. This Pada Pooja, a regular annual event held in Abhyasa towards the end of the academic year is a humble effort to help children follow these ancient sayings, which keeps reminding us of our rich cultural heritage, apart from making our parents’ hearts filled with eternal bliss.
Graduation Ceremony & Farewell Celebrations - 2020
It is very difficult for a parent to send a daughter to the in-law’s house; so is the feeling of Abhyasa when the children graduate and go out of the Campus. But at the same time, we feel proud of their achievements here and the confidence they had gained, which will accompany them into their future when they have to face the challenges of the outside world.
In a solemn graduation ceremony held on Saturday, the 14th of March, 43 twelfth graders were presented testimonials, which speak volumes about their accomplishments. The Chief Guest Shri Raj Kandukuri, the celebrity film personality, along with the Founder Director and CEO of Abhyasa Mr. Vinaayaka Kalleetla, distributed the mementos to the outgoing batch of students and administered the graduate pledge.
In his address, the Chief Guest Shri. Raj Kandukuri expressed his happiness over participating in the function. He was appreciative of the transformation the children had undergone over the years of stay in the school by saying that they “come crying and leave crying”. He conveyed a wonderful message to the children to follow their own suggestions, to be independent, and to have a zeal and desire in order to be successful. Following his speech, Sri. Raj Kandukuri answered the questions of the students about his career and success willingly and readily, wherein he mentioned that movies with a strong female character were a greater success and so women should be made strong in a society. Shri. Raj Kandukuri also reiterated that the children have to stick onto Dharma and have strong convictions. Sir continued to attribute his success in ‘Pelli Choopulu’ film to the story written by Tharun Bhasckar. He further shared the fact that ‘Tadagaatha Buddha,’ which he produced only to fulfill his father’s desire. Even though he was discouraged by people around, he still went ahead and won accolades. He said that it was a coincidence that he received his father’s call to make a film on Buddha when he was actually inside a Buddha temple in Thailand. This information bears an inherent message that unexpected things can happen in life and people should take care not to ignore the wishes of their parents.
A few students and parents shared their experiences and thanked the school administration for the opportunities provided to them.
Prior to the close of the Graduation Ceremony, Founder Director and CEO of Abhyasa, Mr. Vinaayaka Kalleetla proposed an informal vote of thanks and felicitated the Chief Guest. Sir made a special mention of the spiritual services rendered by Sadguru Sri Kandukuri Sivananda Murthy, the late father of Shri. Raj Kandukuri and the lead role played by his son in Choosi Choodangaane. He wished the outgoing students all the best and expressed his wish to see the tenth graders back as they do get everything inside the campus which the outside world has to offer them and they have a lot more to achieve.
A sumptuous and delicious dinner followed the National Anthem.
This was followed by colourful cultural events presented by the junior students as part of farewell.
THE ART & CRAFT EXHIBITION - 2020
Abhyasa feels proud in conducting exhibitions every year to showcase the talents of the children in different fields. We conduct Science exhibitions wherein the creative talents of the students in their academic pursuit are displayed in the science laboratories, while the Arts and Crafts Exhibition is held towards the end of the academic year, by when the children have created a good number of samples of their learning in these specialized subjects taught throughout the year. Whether it is academics or Arts and crafts, creativity plays a major role in determining the talents of the students.
The significance of this exhibition is that almost all the exhibits consisted of the original drawings and paintings by the students as well as beautiful articles made from discarded materials. In short the exhibition is not only a testimony to the dexterity and agility of the little, nimble fingers which could transform thrown-away stuff into things of beauty, but also the aesthetic appeal of the young minds.
This year the ART & CRAFT EXHIBITION was clubbed with the Graduation Ceremony which bade goodbye to the senior-most students of the school. The Chief Guest Shri. Raj Kandukuri, actor, director and producer inaugurated the exhibition, as well as lighted the holy lamp to mark the beginning of the Graduation Ceremony. Sir observed the exhibits with immense interest and also interacted with the students. Expressing his overwhelming happiness about the work of the students and appreciating their creative ability, Sri. Raj Kandukuri had remarked that he was ‘very happy to have gone through the thoughts of the young minds and their creative role.’
