Bonalu festival

Abhyasites celebrated Bonalu festival with great enthusiasm and joy, marked by colourful procession, music and dance performance. Students dressed up in traditional attire and participated in the festivities.

Bonalu is a Hindu festival celebrated in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, India, and other parts of Telangana state. The festival is a thanksgiving to the Goddess Mahakali for the fulfillment of vows. The word "Bonalu" comes from the Telugu word "Bhojanalu," which means "meals" or "offerings".

During Bonalu, devotees prepare special offerings and present them to the Goddess as a token of gratitude and reverence.

The rice cooked with milk and jaggery in a new brass or earthen pot, which is decorated with neem leaves, turmeric, vermilion, and a lit lamp. That pot is carried on the heads and make an offering of the Bonam, along with bangles, sari, and turmeric-vermilion, to the Mother Goddess across the temples.

The festival is also known for its festive atmosphere, traditional music, dance, and vibrant processions.
