Abhyasa Conducts Youth Assembly of India 2009 Along Passionate
The ‘Youth Assembly of India' with an aim to sensitize youth towards community service and social entrepreneurship was inaugurated by AP Legislative Assembly Speaker Mr. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy by lighting the lamp at Sri Sathya Sai Nigamagamam, Sri Nagar Colony, Hyderabad on 11.10.2009 . The two-day assembly was participated by hundreds of youth from various colleges and Universities across India. The assembly was organized by Abhyasa Residential School in collaboration with Passionate, an NGO.
The two-day Youth Assembly is a conglomeration of youngsters who wish to make a difference to their world, informed Mr. Vinaayaka Kalleetla, Founder Principal, Abhyasa Residential School, the organizers. The inauguration was graced by Dr. K.S. Ratnakar, Chairman - Global Medical Education & Research Centre; Mrs. Christine Lazares, MLA and Mrs. Karuna Gopal, President - Foundation for Futuristic Cities. There was a panel discussion in the afternoon inviting questions from the audience on the issue – "Youth Led Transformation or Youth need Transformation?" Several celebrated achievers from the field of administration, sports, media, entertainment, social activities and social entrepreneurs shared their success stories and initiated panel discussion to inspire the youth and student participants.
Swami Agnivesh, President World Council of Arya Samaj, Social Activist; Mr. J.M. Lyngdoh, Former Chief Election Commissioner of India; Padmashri Dr. Ananda Shankar Jayanth - Dancer; Mrs. Karuna Gopal - President Foundation for Futuristic Cities; Mr. Raja - Actor; Mr. Syed Sultan Ahmed Founder Activity India; Mrs. Kanthi Kannan - Founder Right to Walk; Mrs. Christine Lazares - MLA; Mr. Sateesh Andra - Venture Capitalist and Mr. Sridhar Muppidi - Founder Education for Free, graced the two day event along with Mr.R.Prabhakar Rao, Retd. D.G.P.of A.P, who is the Chairperson were present on the second day of Youth Assembly of India. A Panel discussion on "Youth Involvement -Opportunities and Perspectives" was held.
On both days various NGO's across India presented their Projects. The projects consisted of social service activities taken up by them. At the end of the two day meet, Youth Excellence Awards were given away for Outstanding Projects in the "Celebrating Service Contest". The first prize of Rs 50,000 along was awarded to "Just Change" from Hyderabad. The second place was bagged by Bhadyath" from Vishakhapatnam which carried a citation along with Rs 30,000. The third place of Rs 20,000 with citation went to "Diffusion" from Hyderabad.
The winners were selected based on their projects presentation in the Youth Assembly. The Youth Assembly is the platform which enables each participant to explore possibilities to make a difference to the world by being an aware and active citizen confronting the challenges of the present. Community service and social entrepreneurship must be inculcated among the generation next, said Mr. Vinayak, Founder Principal of Abhyasa Residential School.
