Hemanth Utsav 2016 - A Spectacular Cultural Extravaganza on TOLERANCE
The Sriharikota Range, the Satellite Launching Station of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), popularly known as SHAR is situated on an island of Sullurupeta-a small town in Nellore district, of the state Andhra Pradesh. Geographically Sriharikota Range(SHAR) is situated at 80 Deg. East and 13 Deg. North. The launch Centre located at Sriharikota island, was named as Satish Dhawan Space Centre, SHAR(SDSC,SHAR) in September 2002, in memory of Prof Satish Dhwan, who was Chairman of ISRO from 1972 to 1984. SHAR Centre is recognized the second best location for launching the rockets.
The students of Abhyasa International Residential School got the opportunity of visiting SDSC, SHAR on 24th June, 2015 along with the members of Space Adhyaan , one of the education partners of Abhyasa. It is a rare and pleasant opportunity provided to school by the ISRO. Soon after reaching SHAR, the students of Abhyasa were at first taken to the Auditorium and shown them a movie on all the stages of Rockt Launching. After the movie, the students interacted with Shri.Viswanath Sharma, HOD of Technical Department, SDS SHAR.
Later, the students visited "Space Museum" and read the history of ISRO and its future plans. They saw the models of PSLV (Polar Satellite Launching Vehicle) GSLV(Geo Stationary Satellite Launch Vehicle), GSLV MK III. Then They were taken to Rocket Launching Pad where they were Shown the First Used Launching Pad and the Current Launching Pad and explained to them how the rockets are launched from there. In live, they saw the Meteorological Satellite and the UK Commercial Satellite which is going to be launched on 10th July, 2015. It is told that Abhyasa is the first school that has been allowed to visit the Rocket Launching Pads ever since 2002.
